Life of a Fighter with Doug Dufur

November 29, 2008 by Dave Franklin

Two weeks out…

What’s going on everybody? I hope you all had as good of a Turkey Day as I did. I spent some time with the family, watched some football, and ate as much food as this 145 pounder could eat! Gotta love the holidays.

I am officially two weeks out until fight day, though I wish it was tomorrow. The worst part of fighting, next to cutting weight, is having to wait until the actual fight. You train so hard for so long, and you just want to go out and showcase your skills and lay down a beating! Then there is sitting in the back, warming up, waiting for other fights to go first, getting your hands wrapped, walking out, then finally getting your named called. When the time comes and your hand is raised, it is all worth it though! I remember after my first W, I was running around the cage yelling to the crowd and shaking the fence. Adrenaline is a crazy high. There is relief, excitement, and so much adrenaline still pumping after the fight is over that sometimes you just cant help but to yell at the top of your lungs!

With two weeks until the fight, I am going into one of the hardest weeks of training where I will push myself to the limit. Expect to see some black eyes, or just a weak Doug Dufur from pushing the cardio to the next level. About 7-10 days out, we like to “taper down” which is usually involves cutting down the cardio and sparring so my body can be recovered in time for the fight and to ensure I don’t get a cut or injury during training.

Well I can’t keep talking about it, it is time to go do some sprints up some hills. Can’t wait…

Don’t forget the fight is December 13th for Gladiator Challenge at the Fox Theater in San Bernardino. Tickets are $50 and you can get them from me.

As always, thank you to everyone who supports me. I can’t do anything that I do without all of you.

A big thanks to my sponsors: Cage Fight Gear, MMA Overload, Orbit Nutrition, D.R.E. Graphics, UpShot Energy Shots, San Diego Hydro, SANDIEGOMMA.NET, and be sure to check out DougDufurMMA. com

Have a good weekend!!!
